Antonio Vivaldi: In Furore

Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin | Harmonia Mundi

Carlo Vistoli is one of the most fascinating countertenors of the new generation. In a short time, the Italian singer has conquered the international opera stages and concert halls with bravura.

On their first joint CD, the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin and this exceptional singer dedicate themselves to key works of Vivaldi's sacred music: his psalm setting "Nisi Dominus," the "Stabat Mater," and the motet "In furore"—three expressive vocal works that perfectly showcase Vistoli's remarkably flexible voice.

Like almost no other composer of the Italian Baroque, Vivaldi imbued sacred music with a new, unprecedented emotional power. He set religious texts to music with bittersweet sadness and operatic verve.
